Who is The Salvagedoctor?

Established in 1991, The Salvagedoctor has specialised in the restoration and refinishing of all metalwork including the Globe Theatre gates, The London Docklands riverside bollards and wrought iron at Hampton Court Palace, to name but a few.

Our speciallity has always remained with cast iron radiators in the main, along with fireplaces, gates, railings and staircases. Despite the fact that it can be demanding work at times, the proprietor has remained an active member of the small workforce due mainly to his interest in period tecniques such as foundry work and blacksmithing. For this reason, any item you have restored by us will have been, in the most part, restored by him. His engineering background has enabled The Salvagedoctor to be one of the leading restorers of cast iron radiators around, identifying with some of the potential problems that can possibly occur with a restored cast iron radiator after installation, for example, has ensured that the thousands of radiators we have supplied are still out there heating homes and not back in our workshop being repaired!

Over the years we have experimented with sub contracting some of our work to outside companies due to the demand for our services, however, we have learnt that this does not always provide us with the results suffice to supply our customer, therefore, we have come to terms with the fact that we must concentrate our energy on quality and not quantity, which though a little frustrating at times, ensures the right finish everytime. Having said that, we do have things down to a fine art, so we are able to accomodate orders both large and small. You won't however, pay a premium for this high standard, due mainly to the fact that we buy, sell and restore on the same site, giving us an edge over a large proportion of our competition.

You will almost certainly have questions for us to answer. There are many elements to consider when buying a period radiator.

We hope you enjoy our site and welcome any feedback.
